This morning I was cleaning out old design files of symmetrical geometric patterns. Then this afternoon in checking upcoming contests, I realized I could use the patterns in the Spanish Tile Challenge. With much fussing over hue and placement, I tried to mix modern and historic, bold and intricate. Some Spanish tiles are extremely ornate or literal scenes; patterns contrast along borders, and fit within other patterns. White clay was often the base, which made colors lighter and brighter.
