silhouettes. It was my entry for a 2016 contest.
This was my entry for the 2016 Spoonflower challenge "Home is where the heart is." We were to create a fat quarter tea towel that could be sold at The Roostery, one of Spoonflower's sister companies. * * * * * My inspiration came from a strange source indeed. There was a rust spot on my daughter's bathtub that fascinated me, because in it I saw the silhouette for a man and a woman. That tendency to see faces and other things in random places is called pareidolia, and it was deeply instilled in my by my father. When I was a child he was constantly asking me, "What do you see in those water spots, the clouds, etc." All of my siblings have the same tendency. So basically, I used the silhouette of the rust spot, adding a bit of color variation. I know - it's a bit strange - but it rather appealed to me. * * * * * Copyright Mary K Wykes 1-1-16
