Something old and something new!
The cave where the drawing was discovered is located near the convergence of the Lot and Garonne rivers. In this version of the design I have used my Butterfly Marble as a background. You will find it here: https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric/7604403 I very much enjoyed working with this ancient design, and bringing it to life with bright colors. As I worked I imagined myself in that early time frame. I imagined the excitement I felt as I brought to life an iconic bird from my culture, and the comments I received from my friends as I worked on it. Initially I did an oil painting, which you can see here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/esprit-de-lot-et-garonne-mary-wykes.html Now, years later, I have taken a photo of the painting into Adobe Photoshop in order to clean it up and use it for a surface design. I see the larger versions of the design used for home decor items such as a duvet cover, a throw blanket or a pillow. You may find the smaller sizes more to your liking for an interesting blouse, shirt, dress or skirt. Just ask if you need the design resized. Copyright - Mary K Wykes - 5-13-20
