About the Design

’Dot this Geodesic, fancy on dark gray by Su_G' (https://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/6201659): tribute to R. Buckminster Fuller (see below) & my entry in the Spoonflower Geodesic Design Challenge. © Su Schaefer 2017 "To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” --R. Buckminster Fuller Buck my Geodesic (fancy) is a tribute to one of my longstanding heroes: R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983), American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, and inventor of the Dymaxion House - which could be mass produced in a factory, packed into a cylinder 6 foot high, railed to wherever you wanted it, assembled in a day or so by a couple of people; and packed up and moved again when you did. Oh how I wanted to live in one of them! Some of the other things R. Buckminster Fuller said: “Dare to be naïve.” “Either war is obsolete or men are. ” “Sometimes I think we're alone. Sometimes I think we're not. In either case, the thought is quite staggering” “I am a passenger on the spaceship Earth.” and “When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.” [beauty in the sense of elegance I think] My original design inspired by an outfit worn by Lee Lin Chin, a newsreader on Australia's multicultural broadcaster SBS, famous for her (shall we say) unusual outfits, as well as her clear enunciation which can be read by people who are deaf, and understood by all.
