Bright red poppies with deep green leaves on a pale grey blue background. This design is based on a two colour linocut of poppies, which was then printed up on my hand operated 19th century proofing press in my studio here in Scotland. Two colour linocuts lend themselves to bold, striking designs suitable for larger scale items of homeware such as bedding, cushions or pillows. As an artist, I am inspired by the 19th Century Arts and Crafts movement. Both the theme of this design and its hand cut, printed execution reflects the methods used by the artists at that time.
