The colors in this design give a nod to the colors in the German flag, goldenrod, red and black. While the blackbirds represent the flight of the participants in the Bauhaus Movement from Germany to surrounding countries due to Nazi pressures and beliefs that the movement was of radical thought and purpose and placed pressures on the school to close in 1933.
